There are bike paths and small recreational areas that border the Ottawa River in the metropolitan area. In the summertime, these paths and parks are filled with people enjoying the weather.... in the winter, they're left to the elements.

Great job on the shadows! For my taste, I think I would prefer a bit more sky, but it works just as well this way.
